The attorney for Flavor Flav, the 53-year-old rapper and reality star whose legal name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr., told The Associated Press that his client plans to plead not guilty to charges of assault and domestic battery and work things out with this woman. "They've been together a long time, and they want to work this out," says Tony Abbatangelo, Flav's attorney.

Last week, Flav was charged with felony assault and misdemeanor domestic battery following his arrest due to an argument that turned physical with girlfriend of eight years Elizabeth Trujillo. Trujillo, 39, told police her earring was ripped out during the incident that she said stemmed from an argument over infidelity. She also claims that Flav wrestled and threatendd to kill her 17-year-old son.

He has already been to jail for assaulting his then-girlfriend in 1991, and spent three months in prison for shooting at a neighbor in New York in 1993. If found guilty, Drayton could face up to six years in prison if convicted of the assault charge and six months in jail on the domestic battery charge. The judge set a November 20th date for an evidence hearing.
