The Giants are now up two-games-to-nothing in the World Series after taking Game Two 2-0 Thursday night in San Francisco. While Pablo Sandoval slugged the Giants to the win in Game One with three homers, Thursday was a different story with San Francisco playing small ball to manufacture the only two runs in the game.
If there was hero offensively, it was Hunter Pence, who scored the Giants first run when he sprinted home on a double-play grounder in the seventh inning. He was also a key in the eighth, hitting a sacrifice fly to knock in Angel Pagen. By stealing second to put himself in scoring position, Pagen also did something for everyone. As part of a promotion with Taco Bell, the stolen base means that everyone is eligible to receive a free Doritos Locos Taco on Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. ET.
On the mound for the Giants, Madison Bumgarner pitched seven innings without allowing the Tigers a run.
The Tigers had some chances. In the second inning, Prince Fielder tried to score on Delmon Young's double to left, but was thrown out at the plate.
Game Three is Saturday in Detroit.
