Since, VH1's Hip Hop Honors 2008 show premiered on Oct. 6th, I decided that on the Oct. 5th edition of Ruthless Radio, I'd play nothing but songs by artists that have been inducted in the Hip Hop Honors hall of fame from the time they started it in 2004 til 2008.

Check out the playlist, if ya missed the show!

Back from L.A.
Friday 10-03-2008 5:07pm PT

So, on Tuesday night, I made a fat ironman trip to L.A. to check out the advanced screening of the new VH1 Rock Doc, "NWA: The World's Most Dangerous Group."

Point blank: The documentary and the whole event was bad ass.

Here's how it went down.

I got invited to check out the advanced screening of the film (before they premiere it on VH1 on Friday, October 3rd) at a theater in L.A.

After I checked in at the VH1 booth, they gave me a nice lil wristband so I could hang out in the lounge area before they showed the movie.

Then, everyone who was invited made their way into the theater. Before the film started, one the head honchos from VH1 did a quick intro and introduced some of the cats responsible for putting together the Rock Doc.

The dude who directed "Boyz N The Hood", John Singleton, was sitting a in the front of the theater. Eazy-E's son, Lil Eazy-E, was in the row in front of me. And down the aisle was a true legend in the game. DJ Yella from NWA was in the house! Dope.

They showed us the unedited version of the film, so it was cool to hear all the cussin'. (I mean, c'mon, it's about NWA! You gotta have cussin' right?)

When it was over, everyone applauded and for good reason. It was really one of the most well-produced and honest portrayals of NWA that I've ever seen. Two big ass thumbs up, fa real.

Afterwords, Hip Hop journalist Cheo Coker hosted a short question and answer session with Lil Eazy and Yella at the front of the theater.

They even took some questions from the audience. Yup, you know I had to raise my hand, right?

Later, I got a chance to talk with DJ Yella a lot more about the group, his thoughts about the documentary, and especially his memories of Eazy-E.

It was pretty sad to hear Yella say that he just lost the love for making music the day Eazy passed. But you could tell he still loved telling stories about him.

Bottom line: you gotta catch the film when it premieres on VH1 this Friday (and the replays all month). It's called "NWA: The World's Most Dangerous Group."

**I was able to shoot a short video with DJ Yella talkin' about the film. You can see it right now on the front page of B95forlife.com!**

Here's a shot of me with DJ Yella and Lil Eazy-E.
NWA Rock Doc on VH1
Thursday 10-02-2008 12:14am PT

By now, you've heard about all the inductees in this years "Hip Hop Honors" on VH1.

To promote the show, VH1 has produced a brand new documentary film called, "NWA: The World's Most Dangerous Group" that's gonna premiere on October 3rd.

Next Tuesday, September 30th, they're having a special advanced screening of the Rock Doc in Los Angeles. So, you best believe I'm gonna try to be there and check it out.

But I wanted to do something just for Ruthless Radio listeners, so I'm giving you a shot to win a couple passes to the L.A. premiere (you gotta drive ya ass down there yourself, sorry), and the new NWA CD, "NWA and Their Family Tree", dropping next Tuesday.

To enter the contest, just click on the pic below and register. I'll be calling all the winners on Monday the 29th. Good Luck, and make sure to listen to the show this Sunday from 7pm-9pm on B95!

**The contest is over! Shots goin' out to everyone who won the NWA CDs and especially those of you who showed up in LA!**

First of all, we gotta send out prayers to Nate Dogg, who suffered his second stroke in just the last few months. I'll make sure to play a couple Nate Dogg joints this weekend.

Also on this Sunday's show, I finally got around to cleaning up some songs from Keak Da Sneak's CD, "Deified" and a couple off Ice Cube's new on, "Raw Footage."
So, you're gonna hear some new stuff that I haven't played on the show before.

Plus, I got some Tech N9ne on deck, NWA, Mac Mall, lots of dope s**t.

Spread the word.

This past Sunday, September 7th, marked what would have been the 45th birthday of the Gangsta Rap Legend, Eric "Eazy-E" Wright.

On that Sunday's Ruthless Radio, I played some Eazy joints that you've heard on the show and some that I hadn't played before.

Shots out to everyone who hit me up and let me know you were diggin' the show.
